The Dress

I knew I wanted this dress for my wedding day before I was even engaged! I was never a traditional white girl and wanted something fun, colourful and timeless to reflect the vibe of our day. The dress is a Wendy Makin and from her couture bridal collection - her style being easily recognised for it’s simple, stylish elegance and extraordinary fit.

The dress itself is a sweetheart neckline which gathers into a ruched waist. The bodice is completely boned. The dress has an invisible zip up the back for easy fastening, but this is covered by pearl beading fastened with an invisible elastic loop (see photos).

The dress also has a small train which can be shortened into a bustle by being hooked into a clip concealed by a tiny bow just below the waist (handy for photos and dancing!) . MOST IMPORTANTLY, it has pockets (very important for lipstick and handkerchiefs!!)

The dress is made from 100% ivory silk with a gorgeous floral pattern that features blush pink, fuchsia, soft coral, muted grey and some purple. My bridesmaids wore navy and my bridesmen (yes bridesmen!) wore baby pink shirts and polka dot bow ties. The dress is so versatile it would go with pretty much any bridesmaid colour. Husband wore a navy jacket with tan chinos.

I found the design to be the perfect balance between statement and princess, however it can also be worn with a two ring hoop for those who want more volume, or with some of the tulle removed for a more streamlined look.

I have never felt more beautiful or feminine than in this dress and received so many compliments. If you're looking for a beautiful, memorable and flattering dress for your wedding day, this dress is the dress for you!
