The Dress
This is a one-of-a-kind Alon Livne Lisa wedding gown, as it's actually two pieces. I bought the dress with a mermaid bottom and cut it off. My seamstress, Ann from A Stitch in Time in Santa Monica, CA, made the top of the dress into a body suit. This made for a much easier time going to the bathroom, let me tell you. It could also be worn with any other skirt! I wanted a full ball gown tulle skirt, so I bought one by the same designer, Alon Livne. It also has sparkles sprinkled in some under layers that perfectly match the bead work on the top. Another reason why having the body suit is so brilliant is because the skirt doesn't pull down too much on the beading, making it incredibly versatile. I thought about changing to another skirt for the reception, but as you can see I had fun dancing it in and twirling my flower girl around in it. I was comfortable, even on a hot day in August in southern California. When we went to our hotel at the end of the night, a little girl ran up to me and said, "Mommy, it's a real live princess!"
I am selling the pieces together as one dress, even though they are technically worth more separately. The belt comes with the skirt, which can easily be adjusted for different size waists, and it's all boxed up and preserved beautifully with the top after being cleaned, so I can keep it fresh for the right bride. Because of this, I don't want to open the box to get a photo to show that some of the tiny beads came off the thin back strap that holds the shoulders of the dress on. It's also probably hard to see in any photo that there are some tiny little holes in the invisible looking mesh on the front. On most wedding dresses I hated the mesh, as you usually see it, but not on this dress. Alon Livne made it so fine that it's only noticeable really up close, and even up close no one noticed it.
Alterations
The dress was originally a size 10 that was made down into a size 4/6. I'm normally a size 4, but I found it fit more like a size 5 as it was as small as she could make it going down from a size 10. I think it would easily fit a 4 or a 6, especially since the waist can easily be adjusted. She added in nude pads for a built-in bra so you wouldn't have to wear one with the gorgeous open back. These could be taken out, especially if you are larger breasted as the dress already has some of its own pads.
The skirt was cut to have a small train in the back. I wore flat shoes and had the skirt cut to match my height, and I am 5'5" and a half. In the photo I was 5'6" with my flats on.
waist to floor: 45 in (115cm)
waist: 27 in (69 cm)
chest: 35 in (89cm)
The body suit is estimated to be a size 5, and the skirt can be adjusted to fit sizes 0-6.
