The Dress

My ‘Johanna’ lace dress is from the Karen Willis Holmes - Wild Hearts collection.
I purchased it from KWH Brisbane in October 2015 and wore it at my New Zealand summer wedding in January 2016, set outdoors in a private vineyard.

It is a stylish, ivory-colour gown with a high halter neck and beautiful lace overlay.

The back features a low cut back with covered buttons for an elegant look.
The train can be tied up in a bustle at the back with ribbon prefect for later in the night.

The dress is a size 8 and was hemmed by a wedding dress designer in Auckland – I am 167cm and wore 9cm heels.
Im usually a size 8-10 in most stores.
As there is no boning in the dress and has adjustable straps, the dress could possibly fit between a size 8 & small size 12.
I paid $2800NZD for the dress, $150NZD on alterations/hemming and it has been professionally dry cleaned ($350NZD).

Alterations:
The straps can be worn two ways, the halter style you see in the picture or it can be worn ‘X’ back style. Discrete clips were professionally added to be able to do this.
The neckline has been altered very slightly as I found the high neck too high. It is slightly softer and more comfortable.

I am totally in love with this dress. It was so comfortable to wear and very flattering.

I loved the dress as is, however I have seen photos where others have made changes to it -Eg. change the back tie to a button to have a complete backless look, or girls wore the KWH Clarisse skirt over the dress for a more formal look for the ceremony. The dress also came with a ribbon belt to go around the waist (I chose not to wear this).
