Losing Weight for Your Wedding

People want to look their absolute best for the special occasions in life, and this is usually the reason that they begin a diet and exercise regime in the weeks or months leading up to their high school reunions, annual celebrations and weddings.

If you are someone concerned with losing weight for your wedding you need to remember a few important facts. The first is that you must consider the impact of your decision on your wedding clothes. For example, if you are the bride and you have already ordered your gown you may need it altered down a size (or more) if you lose a significant amount of weight. Even if you plan to lose ten pounds or less, if you are also exercising more you could see your dress size decrease by two sizes or more due to the toning of the muscles too.

The next thing to remember about dieting in the weeks or months leading to your wedding is that you should be sure that you are not depriving your body of the nutrients it needs. Many people jump into radical weight loss plans in order to drop as much weight as possible before their wedding day arrives and this will have effects on their mental clarity and their general appearance. Consider how upsetting it will be to forget to tackle a few of the things on your "to do" list because you weren't able to think clearly. Imagine how devastating it would be to look back at wedding photographs and see yourself looking very thin but also very tired, washed out, and even ill. Also imagine the aggravation of being unable to attend the ballroom dance classes you wanted because of the fatigue brought on by too much dieting and exercise.

So, how can you go about losing a bit of weight for your wedding? Like all successful wedding activities, you should plan ahead. Let's say that you want to drop 5 to 10 kilos in the three months before your wedding day. This will mean that you will have a reasonable time frame in which to see that this happens, and it means that you will be able to get yourself into a good routine that will not be easily interrupted by the many wedding activities that will soon begin. For instance, in a matter of one or two weeks you will get yourself into a fixed exercise routine that you can stick to as the wedding day approaches. Additionally, you will also begin to develop a normal eating plan that keeps you energized and which will help you maintain a healthy weight loss rather than an exhaustive one.

A good plan of action is to join some sort of weight loss group, whether it is in person or online. When people have to "check in" with others on a regular basis, and also indicate their actual weight, it really helps to keep them on track. You might want to work with someone in the bridal party to ensure that you both stick with the routine too!
